We give glory to God, Who in His loving kindness counted us among the living souls today. May His name be highly exalted.
Hear the word of God from
Luke 19 vs.12-13,15, 20-24
He said therefore, A certain nobleman went into a far country to receive for himself a kingdom, and to return. [13] And he called his ten servants, and delivered them ten pounds, and said unto them, Occupy till I come. [15] And it came to pass, that when he was returned, having received the kingdom, then he commanded these servants to be called unto him, to whom he had given the money, that he might know how much every man had gained by trading. [20] And another came, saying, Lord, behold, here is thy pound, which I have kept laid up in a napkin: [21] For I feared thee, because thou art an austere man: thou takest up that thou layedst not down, and reapest that thou didst not sow. [22] And he saith unto him, Out of thine own mouth will I judge thee, thou wicked servant. Thou knewest that I was an austere man, taking up that I laid not down, and reaping that I did not sow: [23] Wherefore then gavest not thou my money into the bank, that at my coming I might have required mine own with usury? [24] And he said unto them that stood by,Take from him the pound, and give it to him that hath ten pounds.
This parable is meant for us, believers of Christ. Every Christian has been given talents from God. Some, one, some two, three or more talents, and are sent into different fields to occupy until the coming of Jesus Christ till the day of reckoning when everyone will give account of his/her stewardship before God.
According to today’s text, the talents were given to the servants according to each person’s ability. However, there was one of those servants who refused to utilise his own talent, went to hide it, and came up with excuses.
Verse 21 says, “For I feared thee, because thou art an austere man: thou takest up that thou layedst not down, and reapest that thou didst not sow.”
Children of God, no excuse is ACCEPTABLE before God on the day of reckoning, you and I will not have the audacity to stand before God and beat our chest to tell God why we did not do what He has appointed us to do.
Hear the Nobleman’s response, in Luke 19 v 23,
“Wherefore then gavest not thou my money into the bank, that at my coming I might have required mine own with usury?”
Children of God, does this sound like the Lord speaking directly to us? If yes, let everyone who has abandoned his or her ordained assignments, or that has buried their talents, go back and do what God has ordained them to do. A word is enough for the wise!
In conclusion, I want every one of us to know that it’s a personal thing between the Believers and God on the last day. No excuse will be entertained. You are waiting for your shepherd to come to your house to beg you or appeal to you before you come back to church? Beloved, stop that excuses, humble yourself, and return to your ordained location if you are truly appointed by God. Except God has instructed you otherwise. (Read John 15 v 16, Jude 1 v 6). As CELESTIANS, our hymn instructed us how to handle our service unto God with all diligence. CCC Hymn 708 stazers 2 &3, Emura fun ‘sura yin, ti kokoro ko le je…. 3, Eyi sa ni ‘sura yin, iwa ati esin yin…)Be prepared for thy treasures, your behaviour, and worship. These will lead you to salvation in this world and in heaven. Please read the hymn and meditate on it!
I pray the grace to utilise our talents as we ought to to the glory of God, the Lord will endow upon us. May the Lord not replace us with stone, and may we not be condemned on the last day. We will not worship in vain in Jesus’mighty name. Amen!
Have a pleasant weekend ahead.
Stay blessed.
JESUS IS LORD!
