Wow! Another Valentine is here, a special day that LOVE is being celebrated all over the world. We thank God for the privilege to witness this year’s Valentine’s Day.
Hear the word of God from
John 15 v 13
Greater love hath no
man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.
There is no love compared to the AGAPE LOVE, the unconditional love of Jesus Christ towards humanity, that made Him surrender His life in replacement for ours (John10 v 18)
Valentine’s Day, known as Lover’s Day, that we are celebrating today in most cases is lust and not a genuine love. Nowadays,
you will see married men going out with single ladies/girls or another man’s wives or unmarried guys and ladies cohabiting just in the name of Valentine’s Day! Should we call this AGAPE? No, not at all. It is LUST!
Valentine’s Day should remind us of the AGAPE LOVE of God towards humanity(John 3 v 16). It should serve as an avenue to strengthen our love towards God and show genuine love towards one another. Let’s remember the great commandments (Mathew 22 vs. 37-38)
Our Lord Jesus demonstrated AGAPE LOVE towards us.Today’s text tells us that, “Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.” John 15 v 13.
Valentine’s Day for lovers may mean the renewal of a marriage vows, rekindle the love that is already going dim between lovers. Reunion of family ties and Godly relationships. It is not to be used as an occasion for immortality,
unhealthy relationships and sinful acts.
AS CELESTIANS, the Spirit encourages us through our Hymns to promote true love amongst ourselves. CCC Hymns 773: Let us unite/2ce. With holy tender love. Let us pray to God every moment. And pay respect to our King and Lord, and wash each one another’s hands. With holy love divine.etc. (Ka so wopo/2ce. Pelu ife mimo. Ka gbadura nigba gbogbo. Ka teriba fun Oba Oluwa. E ma we owo fun ara yin, iteriba mimo.etc.
In conclusion, I implore everyone as we celebrate Valentine today, let your eyes be wide open and be in your right senses so that you do not fall into the trap of the enemy in the name of love. Do not go out with strangers just in the name of Val. Be guided!
I pray that as we celebrate Valentine’s Day today, the Lord will grant us the grace to uphold true love among the Body of Christ, friends, families, communities and nation at large in Jesus mighty name. Amen!
