IF I BE LIFTED UP
We thank God for the gift of life to see another beautiful day today. May we continue to enjoy His sufficient grace.
Hear the word of God from
John 12 v 32
And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me.
Shortly before Jesus died, He said. “And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me.”
What does it mean that the Son of Man must be lifted up. Jesus said this, signifying the kind of death, He should die.That is, the death of the cross.”This he said, signifying what death he should die.” John 12 v 33.
It also means that what He gives us from the Cross is eternal life.The Son of Man must be lifted up, that whosoever believes in Him may have eternal life.
John 3:14-15 says:
“And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up:That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life”.
Furthermore, the history of the Church proved how many believers were added to the disciples. By Jesus’ death, many people believed in Him through the preaching of the Gospel of Jesus Christ by the disciples(Mark 16 vs. 15-16, Acts 2 vs. 41- 47, 5 vs. 14-15)
Obviously, Jesus ssid this, knew that Satan is cast down, and men would come to Him when He is lifted up. John 12 v 31 tells us, “Now is the judgment of this world: now shall the prince of this world be cast out.”
AS CELESTIANS, our Hymns confirm that Satan is trembling and fallen before the power of God( CCC Hymn 330 stz5).
It also shows that salvation is given through the Messiah( CCC Hymn 284: Salvation comes today O ye CELESTIANS, Hear the sounding call, the call of the Lamb… etc.)(Igbala de loni, Eyin Ijo Mimo, E gbo b’ipe ti ndun, Ipe Od’agutan…etc.)
In conclusion, it’s certain that through the Messiah’s death, we are offered life eternal. If Jesus did not die, we would still be indebted to SIN, but by the shedding of His Blood on the Cross, He paid all debt and our sins were remitted (Hebrews 9 v 22, Isaiah 53 vs. 4- 5)
I pray that at the end of our sojourn on this planet earth, the eternal life that was given by the death of Jesus Christ shall be our portion in Jesus’ mighty name. Amen!
