Another Valentine is here, a special day that we celebrate love all over the world. We thank God for the grace to witness it.
Hear the word of God from
John 15 v 13
Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.
There is no love compared to the AGAPE LOVE, the unconditional love of Jesus Christ towards humanity, that made lay down His life in replacement for ours.(John10 v 18)
Valentine’s Day, known as Lover’s Day, that we are celebrating today should remind us of the AGAPE LOVE of God towards humanity(John 3 v 16). It should serve as an avenue to strengthen our love towards God and show genuine love towards one another. Let’s remember the great commandments. Mathew 22 vs. 37 – 38.
Our Lord Jesus demonstrated AGAPE (unconditional) LOVE towards us.Today’s text tells us that, “Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.” John 15 v 13. As Christians, let’s the love of God compels us to show the same love towards others. Valentine’s Day for lovers should mean the renewal of a marriage vows between married couples. It should mean rekindle the light of love that is already going dim between lovers, reunion of family ties, and strengthened Godly relationships. Let’s abstain from lust and sinful acts.(Romans 12 v 9,1 Peter 2 v 11, Isaiah 35 v 3, John 13 vs. 34- 35)
As CELESTIANS, CCC Hymns 773: Shows us the way to demonstrate genuine love within ourselves and towards others. It commands us to unity with holy love. To pray always. To bow to God. To respect and honour one another in Holy Union, etc.( Read and digest it.)
In conclusion, Brethren, I implore all of us as we celebrate Valentine today, let the love of God constrain us to love one another and do good to everyone regardless of who they are. Let’s all we do this special day to be according to the love of God. 1 John 4 v 7 “Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God.”
John 13 v 34 “A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another.”
I pray as we celebrate Valentine’s Day today, the Lord will grant us the grace to uphold true love in the church of God, families, communities, and nation at large. May our worship not be in vain in Jesus’mighty name. Amen!
Happy Valentine’s Day
Enjoy your special day.
JESUS IS LORD!
