We thank God for the gift of life to witness this beautiful last day of February. We bless God for the preservation of our lives.
Hear the word of God from
1 Timothy 3 v 15
But if I tarry long, that thou mayest know how thou oughtest to behave thyself in the house of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and ground of the truth.
Today’s word is very important to all Christians. It is a divine instruction we must adhere strictly to and apply to our lives in our Christianity walk in the house of God wherever we are located to serve and to worship.
Though it’s a charge by Apostle Paul to his spiritual son Timothy. warning him to know how he aught to behave himself in the house of God. The same warning is coming to us today. We should know how to conduct ourselves in the house of God!
This behaviour goes beyond personal behaviour. It extends to our fellow worshippers in the house, the way we relate to them from the head to people on the back seat in the church. As you would want to be treated, you should treat others likewise(Mathew 7 v 12, Luke 6 v 31)
We should know that the house of God is the church of God. It is the house of prayer. It is not a place of riot where we could do whatever we like or political constituencies where we could form different groups or factions to disrupt the peace and unity of the church and frustrate people’s efforts, the plan and purpose of God for His people(Mathew 21 v 13, James 4 v 1, 1 Corinthians 1 vs. 11-13)
The church is the house of honour where everything must be done with a higher level of dignity. We should give honour to whom honour is due and respect to whom it is due. The pastors, shepherds, bishops, apostles, and deacons are the ministering Spirit who God placed over every church to minister and represent Him as His messengers. They should be honoured and treated with respect no matter their age and stature. It is part of our behaviour in the house of God(Romans 13 v 7, Numbers 12 vs. 1,4, 9-10, Jeremiah 3 v 15)
AS CELESTIANS, our song CCC Hymn 602 admonishes us how to take care of our work( behave ourselves in the house of God. Take care of your works in Celestial (2x), over the hills and over the plains, My eyes behold your work in Heaven etc.(Toju ise re ijo mimo (2x),
Lori oke oun petele,
Oju mi nwo ‘se yin l’oke Orun).
Read and meditate on the words.
Romans 12 v 1
I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.”
We should walk in love towards others and walk in obedience to the commandments of God in His house. Our behaviour should be the type that will make the church of God harmonious for people to feel free to worship. We must not make the church a place of rancour due to unruly attitudes. We should learn to behave ourselves in church! (Romans 12 v 9, 1Corinthans1v 10, Matthew 22 vs. 37-40, Romans12 v 10a, John 14 v 15)
As genuine Christians, if we are to behave ourselves in the church, we should abstain from lateness to church services and other behaviours that are contrary to the principles of God. Let’s be up and doing and behave ourselves in the church! (I Peter 2 v 12, Ephesians 4 v 29)
Finally, Brethren, the church is not a place we should carry ourselves as if we are the Almighty God. No matter the gifts, anointing, power, position, status, or what God is using us to don in the house of God. Our humility is required toward everyone, young, old, strangers, and familiar alike. Let’s humble ourselves under the mighty hands of the Lord. It’s part of how to behave in church!(Romans 12 vs. 3,10b,16, 2 Corinthians 11 v 20, Micah 6 v 8)
Father, thank You for the word You sent to us today. I pray that you will teach us how to behave ourselves in your house so that our service, worship, and prayer will not be in vain. Help us to walk and shine as light for our generations to see Christ in Jesus’ mighty name. Amen!
Have a pleasant weekend ahead.
Stay blessed.
JESUS IS LORD!
