NOT ALL THINGS EDIFY

NOT ALL THINGS EDIFY

You are welcome on board to this brand new month in the last quarter of the year. We are alive to witness it because God preserves us. We give glory to God for His sufficient grace over us.

Hear the word of God from
1 Corinthians 10 vs. 23-24
All things are lawful for me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but all things edify not. [24] Let no man seek his own, but every man another’s wealth.

The word that came to us from Apostle Paul is an instruction that all Christians should take cognisance of. He tells us from the scripture to be aware of whatever we do because not everything we engage in is good enough for our edification. Even though we consider them lawful.

As humans, we all desire quality things that will improve our standard of living and make life comfortable for us in all aspects. However, in seeking all this, we must ensure we do not go out of God’s will nor hut others in the process.

The next verse of today’s scripture tells us to seek the good and well-being of others first in everything we do. “Let no man seek his own, but every man another’s wealth.” 1 Corithians 10 v 24.

The instruction passing across to us from the above word of God show us that we don’t just engage in things because they are beautiful and good for us. Rather, we should put others into consideration in all things.

Let’s take a relationship as an example: You don’t enter into a relationship because the man or the woman involved is nice, beautiful, handsome, presentable, wealthy, and educated without considering other vital things that will be affected on the long run by your choice because, “not all things edify” 1 Corinthians 10 v 23

Would you jump into water because you know how to swim without considering the deepness of the water or the danger inside it. Or would you start a business because others are doing it without considering the risks. Or you will start driving a vehicle because you have a driver’s license without considering the lives of those you might endanger? ( Proverbs19 v 21)

The message Apostle Paul is passing across is that, we should seek God’s approval in whatever we want to do before we enter into such thing so that we would be able to fit into God’s good plan that will take us to our expected end, and will in turn edify other people around us.

Jeremiah 29 v 11 tells us,
“For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.”

I must say that we CELESTIANS are the luckiest group of Believers because we are privileged to be planted in a Church where prophesies, visions and revelations through the power of the Holy Spirit are evident in our midst. So much that we are always guided aright on what to do and what not to do. Except, if we failed to obey God’s voice(See CCC hymns 678- ORO otito ti mo so fun yin, E ro/3ce oro yi wo…..( The Father’s message I have sent to you, ponder/3ce over this message……..) Proverbs 29 v 18 “Where there is no vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth the law, happy is he.”

In conclusion, Brethren, I implore everyone not to act of selfish interest, but let’s do all that is lawful and edifying to us and to others. In order to live according to the good purpose of God for our lives, let’s do all that will please God and glorify His name(1 Corinthians10, 24, 31)

I pray that in life and this Christianity journey the Spirit and the power to live our lives unto all pleasing, and to the edification of the Body of Christ in all ramifications, God will endow us in Jesus’ mighty name. Amen!

Have a wonderful day.
Happy New Month
Stay blessed.
JESUS IS LORD!
